District Basketball Asociations

Kollam city is renowned for its cultural heritage. It has a commendable tradition in the field of sports & games. Recently the Kerala sports council has started cetralised sports hostel exclusively for girls which is having Basketball as a disipline for the shool and college students.

The Kollam District Basketball association has conducted various tournaments in the past 20 years.

1.  KBA Champion Trophy Tournament

2.  Senior State Championship at Punalur

3.  Sub-junior State Championship at Infant Jesus School ground in 2000.

4.  Junior State Championship (2 times)

Our Sub-junior Boys team secured first position in 1980 and 2nd place in 1993.

The following players represented Kerala Team in various Nationals :-

1.  Anoop (sub-junior), 2)Jeethan Jude Haris (sub-junior)

2.  Hafeesh (Sub-junior & Youth), 4) Rajeev. P. K. (Men)

Late. Prof. P. K. S. Naidu was the pillar stone of the association for many years. He has contributed most of his life for the promotion of Basketball in Kollam. He was the technical committee chairman of KBA for a long period till his death. At present the association consists of a group of young former players who work together as a family for the promotion of the game. Kollam YMCA is also helping us in promoting the game by conducting coaching camps for young players.
