EASTERN RAILWAY AND KERALA WOMEN CONVINCING VICTORIES AT THE 33RD FEDERATION CUP IN NOIDA

Noida 12th June 2019 : The 33rd Federation Cup has tipped off at the Noida . The best club/state teams from the top 8 states in both the Men’s and Women’s category with addition of the hosts RDSO in Men are participating in this 6 day long tournament. The championship is being organised by the Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association under the aegis of the Basketball Federation of India at Gautham Budda University Noida.
The championship was Inaugurated by Shri. Mahesh Sharma – Ex Central Minister & Current Member of Parliament.
In women section defending champions Eastern Railway started their campaign with a 97-62 victory over Delhi with tall and lanky 6 footer Poonam Chatturvedi top scoring with 27 points.
In Men section Punjab Police started by defeating the defending champion Income Tax Chennai 66-52 with Professional Star and Captain Amritpal scoring 21 points for the victory.
In another match in Women’s section, Kerala tip off with a 62-43 Victory over the home team Uttar Pradesh with Anjanna P G top scoring with 18 points.
In the third Women’s match Maharashtra got better over Chhattisgarh with the score 81- 53. International Sruti Aravind lead the scoring for Maharashtra with 24 points.
In Men’s Division B, Indian Army kicked off the tournament with an exciting victory over the Central Railway with 90-77 with Veteran Forward who has also represented India on the international stage, Gopal Ram lead his team with 23 points.
